Why an MBA ?

Am seriously thinking abt my life on what to do .. funny isnt it ? .. half the life goes on deciding what you want and and the rest wondering if u really wanted it ! .. and the best part is i dunno in what stage i am in .. this part am njoying what i do .. but then .. like the sprite ad we can keep asking "us se kya hoga" and end up with wat i have now :-) .. Happiness .. but it is very normal to think i can do much better than wat am doing now :-) and thinking part keeps me occupied .. u know .. the want to do an MBA .. was really wondering on why i want to do an MBA .. lets delve a lil shall we ?

1.reputation(Doing an MBA only from a well known school)
2.a gal
3.money

well.. dunno in wat order i shud place 2 and 3 hehe ..ok.. now .. are these sufficient enuf a reason for me to study ? .. reason 1 is .. 'coz i missed out on PSPBs and the IITs ..
and i never was interested in studying in US .. wrote GRE 'coz of pressure .. wat can US provide me that India cant ? hehe .. patriotic huh ? .. well not exactly .. y US .. y not someother place .. ..reasons 2 and 3 .. come with a tag called 'satisfaction' .. thats the irritating part .. u never know how satisfied ur going to be with both .. ya .. agreed .. Gods cool and he'll get me the best ..agreed i can leave it all to God and do my duty now and leave the future in his hands .. but then .. the human mind .. wonderful as it is .. doesnt stop thinking ..

Though I've read yr blog pretty late, it reminds me of my days of comtemplating over doing an MBA. Why did I want to do an MBA? The reasons and some after-thoughts r...

1) Reputation - Yes, that part is true. But still the IIT+IIM guys get more of it:(

2) Money - Thinking abt it now, I might have earned more if I had just changed jobs

3) Security - I was feeling insecure being an software engg. But now I know that a manager is no more secure. As one of my books said, "you will be laid-off atleast once in your life time. So, let it be early". Haven't u read abt the whole management being changed in companies during downturns? Well, I never wondered b4 as to what happens to them. Now it pains to think that way;)

The only diff in our reasons is the gal part. To tell the truth, I was never interested in getting gals. And I don't think u'll have enough time after taking the "responsibilities" in an office to go bhind one.

From my experience I have learnt - a person from NSN is no less than a person from an IIT. Its the work that matters, not the memory power.

hehe Arvind, ur second reason seems to be the strong driver for u i guess ;)

btw have u completed ur MBA?? And one line is really true "wat can US provide me that India cant ?"
